Good morning!
It’s the end of 2024, but I’m not going to do a reflection post here. Instead, a quick thank-you for subscribing and enjoying my work, before I give you a heads up about next year!
Let’s start just with January. Don’t worry, I won’t go month by month, but January is a bit of a wildcard at the moment.
January
Partly because of having two colds for about two months this fall/winter, I have a lot of important life and work projects piling up into January. Some of the less major projects include some artworks, editing In the Shadow of the Lilac for publishing, setting up as a freelancer, working on sewing projects, including making veils for a Catholic group… those are just the less major things on my list! I have some major things outside of Substack, for which I would appreciate your prayers, if you have a moment.
In short, my energy is basically going to be stretched to the limit in January, so I may not have much time, if any, to write. (Knowing me, my January will run into February.) I do have backup chapters of The Sword of Myn’, so that will take care of my January fiction posts, at least. I suspect I’m going to have a lot less free time this year, but right now, as I’m unsure what that’s going to mean overall for Substack, I’ve made tentative plans anyway!
2025 - Fiction:
The usual Rise of Sirius (hopefully we’ll get all the way through it!)
The Sun Kingdom: The Sword of Myn’
Star of Silvaria (maybe mostly through this one?)
I also hope to write a couple of shorter stories, probably in the fall. I might write a sequel to In the Shadow of the Lilac just for fun, if there seems to be a strong enough reason and plotline for it. I do plan to write an eerie, short serial sequel to Ransom! (Although this might require a short serial prior to this, for reasons.) I once vaguely alluded to a type of alien vampire in the text of the series, and I want to go back to that. (I do not recommend reading these sequel serials without reading Ransom first, unless you don’t plan on ever reading Ransom. I think it will especially spoil Medrhos’ character arc in retrospect, to read it out of order.)
2025 - Sewing:
There are only a few definite full-scale projects I have planned for this year, as I have a mountain of things I want to basically thrift-flip (regardless of whether I actually thrifted it or if I made them), tailor, correct, or work on more basic projects, and a couple of pet projects.
However, all of the previous sewing projects that I will be working on, if I haven’t posted about them before, will make it into a post! I think I’m going to be giving away a couple of the ones that I’m no longer happy with color-wise, or aren’t my style anymore, so I’ll figure out what to do about that. (No promises, but doing a giveaway here might be fun.)
2025 - full-scale projects:
The collaboration/fandom dress I’m making inspired by another Substacker’s story (and based on her design!). I’ll be working on this in January/early February.
The Aphrodite. I’ll be working on this in February, possibly into March.
Possibly, in November/December: a holiday dress. I have a massive length of red faux-leather on crepe knit, and while I’ve decided I don’t like the leather side, the crepe backing might work as the exterior. (Or perhaps I can figure out how to remove the leather facing without waiting years for it to flake off.)
Backstage, I will also be spending this year working on a recreation of Eowyn’s Shieldmaiden dress from The Two Towers. This is in tandem with
, who made the request, and will be making her own version of the dress with me.
2025 - Expected Design Polls:
March: Easter Dress 2025
April: May the Fourth - Star Wars and/or Birthday gown
(Hopefully one later on in the year, as well!)
2025 - Other:
In the coming week, I’ll be sending out an update on new paid subscriber bonuses!
At some point, hopefully before May, I’m going to be launching a business, in the form of an Etsy shop linked to the Printify shops which I’ll be restarting. I’m planning to include occasional items I’ve made, such as veils, rosaries, jewelry, possibly eventually sewing patterns, though that may be a ways off yet.
As mentioned above, I will be adding freelance info to my Substack and some freelance websites, including for:
Voice acting and narration
Character and Costume Design
Beta Reading, Proofreading
Commissioned Artworks, etc.
Sewing - currently I’m making chapel veils, so that’s what I’m thinking right now, possibly even wedding veils (!)
Thank you again for reading Windflower, and I’m looking forward to sharing more stories and projects with you in 2025! Is there anything you’d like to see from Windflower this year?
In the Hearts of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,

Thank you for reading! Windflower is fully supported by its audience. Instead of buying me a coffee, you can leave a donation which will go towards the purchase of fabric for interactive projects, where you’ll be able to vote on what historical dress or film costume I’ll recreate! Donations also help to continue creating Windflower’s content and to support the local Latin Mass.
Please consider subscribing and sharing with your friends. Thank you, and God bless!
How fun!
I love that you are incorporating all your interests into your Substack instead of just sticking with one.
These are super exciting projects you've got for 2025! May God bless you now and always! :)
