Evening found me wandering through the royal quarters from balcony to balcony. I’d spent the rest of the day alone, which was strange to me, but I’d been free to go about the palace as I pleased. Only when I’d attempted to enter the gardens had guards gently turned me back inside, and I sensed that these men had been trusted by Mirala. Even by sundown I had hardly seen everything.
